Catholic Child Catalog sent me a copy of Lost in Peter's Tomb by Dianne Ahern to read with my kids, and another copy to give away!
Lost in Peter's Tomb is an adventure story about two siblings, Riley and Delaney who are going to be spending the summer with their aunt, Sister Philomena, at her convent in Italy. At first, the kids expect a boring summer with nothing to do but pray. They soon realize, though, that they are in for the adventure of their lives!
Their aunt, Sister Philomena, is anything but boring! She actually works as a special agent for the pope, and is summoned to Rome to help catch a mysterious Vatican intruder (with the kids in tow).
In their unexpected adventure, the kids get lost under the vatican grounds in the tunnels leading to St. Peter's tomb, befriend a Swiss guard, learn to speak a little Italian, eat pizza with the Pope, tour the basilica and Vatican grounds, unravel the mystery of the shadowy intruder, and learn a little about history, Rome, and St. Peter--most definately NOT the boring summer they were expecting.
I read this aloud to my older 3 kids (5, 7, and 10) and they were all captivated. When I said we were stopping for the night, they all begged "Just one more chapter!"

Any book that has an Aunt/Sister Philomena as one of the main charaters instantly intrigues me. Sounds like a great read.
