Review: Supermarket Smarty
I've used all sorts of methods of compiling my grocery list over the years--paper printouts where I check off the items I need, plain old paper with a handwritten list stuck to the fridge, dry erase boards with my list written on it...
I think I have found my perfect solution, which happens to be a blend of all the above. The creator is one smart cookie! The Supermarket Smarty is an ingenious reusable dry erase shopping list that hangs on the fridge with the included clip magnet, and unfolds to be a 5 panel, 2-sided shopping list. There is an included dry erase marker, so you just circle or checkmark the items you need each week, then pop it in your purse and head to the store with your coupons. The pre-printed items are comprehensive and divided into categories including many types of meats, grains, vegetables and fruits, dairy items, dry goods, paper products, personal care items and all the other usual grocery list items. There is a nice section where you can write additional items you need that are not already printed. There's also a built-in pocket for the coupons you'll bring to the store, so you'll have your list with your coupons.
Just all the above features make it a very nice, easy-to-use system, but there are a bunch of extras that really make the Supermarket Smarty very unique and helpful. The whole system is designed to help you shop for healthy foods. On the front panel there is a flat magnifying lens to help you read the small print on labels. There are little symbols next to the printed foods that help you quickly see which foods are Whole Grains, Fiber Rich Foods, have Omega-3 Fatty Acids, have Healthy Fats, Lean Proteins, Potassium Rich foods, and more. Also, there is an extra dry erase sheet that comes with the system--a weekly menu planner. I love this because I can just wipe off last week's meals and write down new ones for this week.
I really like the whole system--it seems to have the best of everything. It's nice and flat so it fits in my purse, the included clip magnet is strong so the list doesn't fall off when on the fridge, it comes with the dry erase marker (that fits on the magnet), it has a magnifying lens built in for reading labels, and a dry erase menu planner is also included. Nice!
Check out the Supermarket Smarty website for more information, to see photos of both sides of the shopping list, or to order it for $12.99. I think that's a pretty good value, considering you'll save that in printer ink over the course of a year if you print your lists now. It's such a clever system!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary Supermarket Smarty in order to try it our and obtain my honest opinion. No other compensation was received.
