Teriyaki Marinade

About 30 years ago,  our neighbor gave my Mom this recipe for Teriyaki Marinade, and it's the one my family has used ever since.  The marinade is very flavorful!  This makes a big batch, so you can cut it in half if you don't have a lot of meat, or just refrigerate or freeze half the (UNUSED!) marinade in a Ziploc baggie for next time. This marinade is excellent on steak, chicken, pork--almost anything.  Enjoy!

2 cups soy sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons dry ground ginger
1/4 cup pineapple juice (I open a can of pinapple chunks, use the juice for the marinade and then grill the pineapple on the skewers)
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons garlic powder (or about 2 crushed cloves of fresh garlic)

Mix all ingredients until the sugar has dissolved.  Allow your choice of meat to marinate in the Teriyaki  (in the fridge) for at least 2 hours--the longer, the better!
